Patrick Mahomes Sends Strong Message About Losing Super Bowl LIX

Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs may have lost the Super Bowl LIX and failed to win the first-ever Super Bowl three-peat, but the star quarterback is not letting the defeat discourage him.

Patrick Mahomes Sends Strong Message About Losing Super Bowl LIX

That much is clear during the Reading Rally in Kansas City on Monday, during which Mahomes opened up about their defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles in the big game.

While speaking about overcoming adversity, Mahomes used their Super Bowl loss as an example for the thousands of students who attended the event.

"Just like us losing the Super Bowl this year, there are things you can take from that in order to be even better," Mahomes said, per Lead to Read KC on Instagram.

"Don’t let a bad thing or a bad moment or a bad circumstance hurt you in the long run. Learn from those things. Learn from those bad moments and become a better person because of them."

The Reading Rally is an initiative by Patrick Mahomes' The 15 and the Mahomies Foundation, in partnership with KMBC 9 Cares for Kids and the Lead to Read program, per KMBC. The program was created to encourage early literacy and highlight the importance of it.

By mentioning their Super Bowl loss, Mahomes was aiming to make the point that there will be times when success won't happen immediately. But by working hard and putting in the effort, it'll eventually pay off.

"The lesson I learned is just being patient and continuing to work hard," Mahomes further stated during the event.

"Just like playing quarterback, you're not always going to have success. You're going to have times where you might not be advancing the way that you want to, you might not be learning as fast as you want. I think with reading, it shows you that if you continue to work hard and you continue to be patient with where you're at, you will get to your ultimate dream like playing in the NFL."

The Chiefs' loss to the Eagles is definitely quite disappointing, especially considering what's at stake. However, Mahomes is not letting it blind him from what he needs to do moving forward.
