Patrick Mahomes Sends Strong Revenge Message Before NFL Season

With their 40-22 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in February, Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs fell just short of becoming the first team in NFL history to win three consecutive Super Bowls.

Mahomes, who already has three Super Bowl titles to his name, struggled in the defeat, completing 21-of-32 passes for 257 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions.

With the 2025-26 NFL season quickly approaching, many have suggested this could be a revenge year for the Chiefs. They’ve reached the Super Bowl in five of the last six seasons, but it’s clear last year’s loss still leaves a bad taste.

Mahomes recently sat down with Kay Adams on the "Up & Adams" show and discussed the idea of a possible revenge season for Kansas City.

The two-time NFL MVP acknowledged that any time there’s a loss, players feel that way, but he’s just ready to play football and let his team’s performance end the chatter.

"I'm honestly just ready to play football again," Mahomes said. "Whenever you lose, you kind of have this taste in your mouth that you want to go out there and revenge that or whatever you want to say. But at the same time, I feel like I've had to sit back and just listen to people talk and talk. And I'm like, let's just play football and just handle it all out there. And I don't really want to talk about it. I just want to go out and show who we are as a Kansas City Chiefs."

The Chiefs will begin training camp on July 21 and open the preseason on Aug. 9 against the Arizona Cardinals.

The first regular-season game is scheduled for a Friday, Sept. 5, against the Los Angeles Chargers. Kick-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET on YouTube.
