The Kansas City Chiefs are back at practice, and all is well in Chiefs Kingdom. The team actually returned to practice wearing pads on Sunday, July 27, and the franchise took to social media to share quarterback Patrick Mahomes and other players decked out in those pads.
There are less than two months to go until the Kansas City Chiefs’ regular 2025-26 season begins, so this is the final stretch where everyone can really start to get excited about the season starting, because it’s almost here.
Even though things are picking up for the Chiefs and all of the teams in the NFL, there’s still some lag before the real action kicks in, which is why it’s so fun to keep up with updates about what’s going on at practice. Now, Mahomes has taken to social media to show off the first practice photos from the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Chiefs are sharing photos, too.
Chiefs Quarterback Patrick Mahomes Shows Off His Stuff
On Saturday, July 26, Mahomes took to social media to share photos from the Chiefs getting back together and practicing. This is before the pads returned on Sunday, July 27.
Mahomes’ post simply has a clock emoji as the caption, and the photos show Mahomes and company on the field. His arm is looking super strong in the first shot, as he reaches back for a big pass. The last photo on the gallery shows his back, and he’s giving a thumbs up sign.
“Football is almost back. Revenge season starts soon,” one follower stated in the comments section. “The greatest quarterback of all time,” another added.
On Sunday, July 27, the Chiefs took to Instagram to show off the very first photos from practice with the players padded up.
“Smilin’ in the St. Joe sun,” the post stated with a Sun emoji. The first photo in the gallery is of Mahomes smiling into the sun, wearing pads. The post also features video clips and photos of the other Chiefs players donning their pads. It’s exciting that pads season has kicked in, right?
Kansas City Chiefs Series on the Way
In other Chiefs news, “The Kingdom,” an ESPN original series all about the Chiefs, will debut on Aug. 14 on ESPN, ESPN+, and Disney+. Episodes one and two will air on ESPN beginning at 9 p.m. Eastern time.
“In 2024, the two-time defending champion Kansas City Chiefs aimed to make history by becoming the first NFL team to win three straight Super Bowls,” a post about the show states. “The Kingdom – a new six-part ESPN original series – chronicles the Chiefs’ dramatic pursuit of a three-peat, the legacy of the franchise, and the unforgettable characters who built its modern-day football dynasty.”
Kansas City Chiefs chairman and CEO Clark Hunt shared his thought about the series ahead of its premiere. “This series is a tribute to everyone who has helped shape the Kansas City Chiefs over the past six decades — from my father’s vision to the players and coaches who pursue greatness each season,” he said in a statement. “We were proud to open our doors to share the full scope of what Chiefs Kingdom means, on the field and beyond.”
