Certainly, when the Chiefs cut the score of their showdown against the Bills in Buffalo on Sunday down to 23-21 in the fourth quarter, there was a sense that we'd seen this movie before. Throughout the Chiefs' 9-0 start, one of the remarkable features of their season has been that they really have not played all that well, especially on the offensive side of the ball.
Yet they've consistently found a way to win, to grind out enough clutch plays down the stretch to earn the W. Despite the nine straight wins to open the year, the Chiefs had a point differential entering Week 11 of just plus-58, which was ninth in the NFL.
On Sunday in Buffalo, though, the Bills proved too tough, too experienced to wilt under pressure like the Chiefs' past opponents had done. A 26-yard touchdown run on a fourth-and-2 from quarterback Josh Allen and a subsequent interception from quarterback Patrick Mahomes helped Buffalo secure a 30-21 win.
This is, of course, nothing new. It's the fourth straight year that Allen and the Bills have beaten Mahomes and Co. in the regular season. However, the Chiefs always get the last laugh--they've eliminated Buffalo from the playoffs in three of the last four years.
