Patriots' Drake Maye Named Undervalued Fantasy QB originally appeared on Athlon Sports.
The New England Patriots' quarterback Drake Maye will be stepping on the field in 2025 with a far better roster surrounding him.
The Patriots improved just about every level of their offense this offseason. Key additions along the offensive line and new weapons at skill positions could have Maye poised for a breakout season.
Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox believes the Patriots' QB is being undervalued in fantasy football right now.
Knox also listed Justin Fields, Jordan Love, J.J. McCarthy, and Matthew Stafford as overlooked, but placed Maye in the middle of the pack for that group.
"The 22-year-old has starting potential in most fantasy formats and is worth considering well ahead of his current ADP," Knox wrote.
With a size and skillset often compared to Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen, the Patriots' signal caller has potential as a runner that New England's offense has not fully tapped into yet.
In 12 starts, Maye ran for 421 yards and two touchdowns. He also threw for 2,276 yards with 15 touchdowns and 10 interceptions last season, finishing with a QBR ranked 17th in the NFL (58.6).
Now, it would be ridiculous to expect Allen-like fantasy production out of Maye, but bringing Mike Vrabel and Josh McDaniels back to New England could help their young star make a big leap.
A six-time Super Bowl champion, McDaniels is making his return to New England as offensive coordinator after leaving for the Las Vegas Raiders job in 2021. He has not coached since 2023.
Expect an offense from Vrabel and McDaniels that puts Maye in situations to succeed, with a focus on running the football and play-action passing.
