In a matchup with a high octane Dolphins offense, the Patriots might be without their best cornerback.
Christian Gonzalez was added to New England’s injury report on Friday afternoon with a new hip issue. He’s officially been listed as questionable, along with nine of his teammates. As the Patriots seek to slow down Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, Gonzalez’s absence would be be a major blow.
“Talk about their receivers, obviously one word to describe those guys is fast. Those guys are blazers,” Jerod Mayo said earlier this week. “We have some fast guys on defense, too, so this will probably be a little bit more of a matchup game, but those guys have fast players on the outside.”
After missing all week with a neck injury, defensive tackle Jaquelin Roy was the only player New England ruled out.
Christian Barmore has been listed as questionable as he continues to ramp up in his return from blood clots, along with a number of other key pieces on defense. Kyle Dugger (ankle), Anfernee Jennings (knee), and Keion White (knee) were all also listed as questionable, as were Deatrich Wise (foot), Sione Takitaki (knee) and Marte Mapu (neck).
