The New England Patriots have been busy this off-season. They are one of the few teams that have been signing players since day one of the new league year and continue to make moves.
New England signed veteran wide receiver Stefon Diggs to a three-year, $69 million deal on Mar. 25.
This ensures the Patriots are serious about building their offense around second-year quarterback Drake Maye, and they might not be finished. New England might have room for one more high-caliber receiver in Brandon Aiyuk in a potential trade with the San Francisco 49ers.
In ESPN's Bill Barnwell's All-Trade 2025 NFL Mock Draft, the Patriots make a big trade with the 49ers. The Patriots receive the No. 11 pick and Aiyuk. The 49ers receive pick No. 4 and guard Cole Strange.
The 49ers are desperately looking to relieve more salary cap space to extend quarterback Brock Purdy from under $1 million a year to around $50 million a year. The 49ers get a potential starting guard in Strange and they can use pick No. 4 on an elite offensive linemen or an elite defender.
The Patriots get another weapon for Maye in Aiyuk, who has been on the trade rumor mill for a while. Aiyuk may finally get his contract extension and be the star of the Patriots’ offense as he is in the prime age of 27. They could also use pick No. 11 to address the offensive line with prospects like LSU’s Will Campbell, Texas’ Kelvin Banks Jr., Missouri’s Armand Membou, or Ohio State’s Josh Simmons.
New England would have one of the most highly anticipated offenses in the upcoming season with an improved offensive line, a physically rejuvenated Diggs, a newly paid Aiyuk and a more confident Maye.
