Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is set to kick off next summer with the hotly-anticipated The Fantastic Four. And the cast just gave fans their first look at the group together, with filming expected to begin in London in late July.
The latest reimagining of the popular comic book franchise will star Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards / Mr. Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby (Mission Impossible) as Susan Storm / Invisible Woman, Joseph Quinn (Stranger Things) as Johnny Storm / the Human Torch, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach (The Bear) as Ben Grimm / the Thing. On Thursday, Pascal shared a first image of the foursome together in an Instagram post, albeit sans superhero costumes.
"Our first mission," the 49-year-old actor captioned the photo with his co-stars, which showed Kirby embracing him with her arms wrapped around his neck and Moss-Bachrach likewise with his arms around the group.
In addition to the principal cast, Julia Garner (Ozark) has been tapped to portray Silver Surfer, with British actor Ralph Ineson cast as the villain Galactus. John Malkovich, Paul Walter Hauser, and Natasha Lyonne have also joined the cast in undisclosed roles.
Per Variety, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige confirmed on The Official Marvel Podcast last month that the upcoming blockbuster would be a 1960s period piece set in New York City.
“There was another piece of art we released with Johnny Storm flying in the air making a 4 symbol and there was a cityscape in the corner of that image,” Feige explained at the time. "There were a lot of smart people who noticed that that cityscape didn’t look exactly like the New York that we know, or the New York that existed in the ‘60s in our world. Those are smart observations, I’ll say."
