Philadelphia Eagles’ $1.6 Million Signing Named as Major Free Agency Steal

The Philadelphia Eagles now own a 2-1 record as the NFL is midway with Week 3. Their performance on the field won’t be made possible if they didn’t sign linebacker Zack Baun, which is now being heralded as a huge steal during free agency this year.

Baun made a significant impact in the Philadelphia Eagles’ recent victory over the New Orleans Saints, leading the team with 13 total tackles, including nine solo efforts. This performance added to his impressive start to the season, where he has already accumulated 24 tackles and two sacks in previous games against the Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons.

With 37 total tackles through three games, Baun currently ranks first in the NFL for tackles, demonstrating his prowess on the field. Before joining the Eagles in March, Baun spent four seasons with the Saints, where he had his career high of 30 tackles in both the 2021 and 2023 seasons.

Just recently, Bleacher Report’s David Kenyon highlighted Baun’s performance and worth for Philadelphia this season in the latest NFL analysis.

“To fully appreciate what Zack Baun has accomplished, it’s imperative you know a little context.

The linebacker spent four seasons with the New Orleans Saints, who used a third-round pick on him in 2020. He never became a core contributor, maxing out at 30 tackles in two seasons with two career sacks.

Baun, entering Week 3, is practically there already.

When the Philadelphia Eagles clipped the Green Bay Packers in the opener, he produced 15 tackles with two sacks. Baun followed up that performance with nine tackles in the loss to the Atlanta Falcons.

Two games, 24 tackles, two sacks. Baun is on track to absolutely shatter his personal-best season. Keep that up, and he’ll cost, um, a few pennies more than $3.5 million next season,” Kenyon wrote.

At Wisconsin, Baun was a standout performer, becoming the first consensus first-team All-American linebacker in the school’s history in 2019. He recorded an impressive 154 total tackles during his college career, along with 30.5 tackles for loss and 15 sacks.

His journey from college football to the NFL clearly shows his dedication and skill, making him a player to watch as the season progresses. Fans eagerly anticipate his continued performance as the season unfolds for him and the Eagles.
