Philadelphia Eagles get contract price on star defensive tackle

After the Philadelphia Eagles' Super Bowl win, they now turn their eye to free agency. The most notable player hitting free agency is defensive tackle Milton Williams, who wants a raise for his first post-rookie contract.

“Obviously,” Williams said when asked if he wanted to be back. “but I want a raise first.”

So, what would Williams end up costing the Eagles if they wanted to retain him? With five sacks this past season as an interior defensive lineman, his stock went way up. Spotrac currently has Williams' market value at $12 million, but that seems to be on the low-end of what he will receive.

It is very likely that Williams will end up being paid signficiantly more than that, and could even approach $20 million with an open market looking at interior defensive linemen as a more important position than ever.

No one on the open market is as good as Williams, and Williams looks like a player who can be built around on in a front that needs help. Teams will be suitors for Williams, it will be up to Philadelphia to decide how much they would want to pay him with Moro Ojomo waiting in the wings.
