Pittsburgh Steelers legend wants to coach for his former team

Pittsburgh Steelers legend James Harrison would like to coach for the Steelers and even reached out to head coach Mike Tomlin, but he got no response to his inquiry. Harrison joined Ben Roethlisberger’s podcast, Footbahlin', for a live watch of the Cincinnati Bengals clash.

During the middle of the game, Harrison remarked that he wanted to coach for the Steelers, but he never heard back from Tomlin about that specific request.

“Let’s just say I put a feeler out there, but I got no response,” Harrison said.

Harrison was the 2008 Defensive Player of the Year and a legend in the franchise’s history. Yet, he had no problem mentoring players during his time in the NFL. He helped a young T.J. Watt develop his habits and moves, some of which Watt can still be seen using on tape.

It is not unprecedented for Tomlin to help out his players, either, in a post-career coaching role. Ryan Shazier and Vince Williams are volunteering for the Steelers now and help them out on a daily basis. In the past, William Gay also got his coaching career jump-started in Pittsburgh.
