PITTSBURGH -- Pittsburgh Steelers star center Zach Frazier dealt with an ankle injury over the last month of the 2024 season, offensive line coach Pat Meyer revealed.
Meyer says injuries always pop up on the offensive line, but for Frazier, it was extra impressive based on just how good he was as a rookie, even while playing through an injury.
“These guys are getting banged up on every play.” Meyer said. “I know down the end, like I think Zach [Frazier] had an ankle for the last four or five weeks. It’s stuff that you’re gonna deal with.”
Frazier has dealt with ankle injuries in the past. He missed two games last season with an ankle injury, and suffered a broken lower leg during his senior season at West Virginia. It is the same ankle that has flared up for Frazier, but at the end of the season, he was able to play through the pain.
Frazier started 47 games for West Virginia over his four years with the team. Over his first full NFL season, Frazier immediately played like one of the best centers in the entire league, vaulting him into a cornerstone piece on the Steelers’ offensive line.
Heading into his second season, Frazier will likely take over a leadership role as the center on the team’s offensive line. For Pittsburgh, they need him to be injury-free, too.
