Pittsburgh Steelers to sign shifty ex-Philadelphia Eagles running back

The Pittsburgh Steelers are signing former Philadelphia Eagles running back Boston Scott to their practice squad, according to multiple reports. Scott will join the practice squad after being cut by the Los Angeles Rams. He signed a one-year deal with the Rams after leaving Philadelphia in free agency, but could not crack their running back rotation.

Boston Scott

Scott, a sixth-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints, played as Louisiana Tech. However, he was unable to make the 53-man roster for the Saints and stayed on the practice squad. That was when the Eagles snapped him up, and over his career, Scott has become a significant weapon in and out of the backfield.

He has 1295 rushing yards while adding 566 receiving yards. On top of that, Scott had 1547 return yards while adding 17 touchdowns overall. This is a skilled veteran that has been in the NFL for six seasons, and should anyone get injured in the running back room, the Steelers can count on Scott to come off the practice squad and make some noise.

The 29-year-old Scott is just 5-foot-6, but his agility and speed have allowed him to stick in the NFL while most others would not. The Steelers cut Jonathan Ward, Aaron Shampkllin, and La’Mical Perine. One of those players could end up circling back to the team to join Scott on the practice squad.
