The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to pursue Aaron Rodgers, but if they miss out on him, could they turn their attention to the NFL Draft?
One NFL insider, Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, believes the options for the Steelers are down to a wide receiver or defensive lineman rather than taking a first round quarterback. Fittipaldo specifically ruled out Shedeur Sanders and Jaxson Dart as options.
"I don’t think the Jaxson Dart or the [Shedeur] Sanders thing is gonna happen,” Fittipaldo said. “Pretty much down to receiver and D-Line, and I think the only way a receiver would be in play at 21 is if they’re gonna turn around and trade George [Pickens] on draft day. So I think that’s a possibility.”
Dart’s college career saw him throw for over 7000 yards, 52 touchdowns, and 11 interceptions over his stops with Ole Miss and USC. His moxie instantly earned him some fans around the league, too. Dart shined with the Ole Miss Rebels this year, throwing for over 4000 yards and leading Ole Miss to a near playoff berth.
Sanders and Miami quarterback Cam Ward are the top two quarterbacks in the class. Sanders' stock has continued to rise since he transferred to Colorado two years ago. The son of Deion Sanders, Shedeur has a lot of talent and will likely be a top-10 pick when it is all said and done.
