Pro Football Focus names the 'sneaky position' the Denver Broncos could target early in the 2025 NFL Draft

It's no secret that the Denver Broncos will likely target a running back early in the 2025 NFL Draft.

The Broncos badly need to add a starting-caliber running back to the roster thanks to the loss of Javonte Williams this offseason.

It's a not a foregone conclusion, however, that Denver will take a running back in the first round.

Pro Football Focus, in fact, suggested that a "sneaky position" the Broncos could target early in draft is interior defensive lineman, due to the fact that Zach Allen and John Franklin-Myers are set to be free agents after the 2025 season.

From PFF: The Broncos’ search for offensive weaponry has already yielded Evan Engram at tight end, but the team is sans a starting running back with Javonte Williams exiting. In turn, Denver is anticipated to add a dynamic rusher within its first three picks.

In a similar vein, the Broncos should look to upgrade at wide receiver, given that Courtland Sutton is on a one-year deal and that Devaughn Vele, Marvin Mims Jr. and Troy Franklin all carry uncertainty. Although the team inked Dre Greenlaw to a three-year contract to improve its inside linebacker corps, he played only 34 snaps last season. His counterpart Alex Singleton appeared in only three games. Interior defender could be a sneaky position to target with Zach Allen and John Franklin-Myers set to be 2026 free agents.

A perfect scenario for Denver could be selecting Tennessee Vols defensive lineman Omarr Norman-Lott in the second round (No. 51 overall).

Norman-Lott is a player that was underutilized at Tennessee (averaged just 17.3 snaps per game), but has drawn praise this offseason for being a disruptive force along the defensive line.

The former Vol is probably a first round talent, but he's almost certainly going to fall to the second round. If Denver lands the running back they desperately need in the first round and then select Norman-Lott in the second round, it would essentially be a perfect outcome for Sean Payton and the Broncos.
