The Dallas Cowboys face a decision on Micah Parsons’ future as trade rumors swirl with the pass rusher attempting to push his way out of Big D. For now, the Cowboys do not appear to be budging with the front office showing no signs of moving on from Parsons.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones hinted that Parsons’ trade request is a negotiating tactic. Yet, it would be interesting to see what Dallas could land in return for Parsons.
Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox put together several potential trade packages the Cowboys could consider for Parsons. Find out why Jim Harbaugh and the Los Angeles Chargers could be a fit for Parsons.
Cowboys Rumors: Dallas Lands Two 1st-Round Picks & Najee Harris From Chargers in Trade Pitch for Micah Parsons
The proposed trade has Dallas landing two first-round picks (2026, 2027), a second rounder (2026) and fifth-round selection. Additionally, the Cowboys acquire former Pro Bowl running back Najee Harris in the deal.
The Chargers pluck Parsons away from Dallas as well as a 2027 fourth rounder. Would this package of picks plus Harris be enough to intrigue the Cowboys to step up to the negotiating table?
Najee Harris Has Topped 1,000 Rushing Yards in 4 Straight Seasons
Harris may be a bit expendable for the Chargers given the team drafted Omarion Hampton. The veteran had four straight seasons topping 1,000 yards, including a Pro Bowl campaign in 2021, during his tenure with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“… Including Harris might be an acceptable sweetener for a Cowboys team hoping it can find a viable starting back between Javonte Williams, Miles Sanders, Deuce Vaughn and rookie fifth-round pick Jaydon Blue,” Knox explained in an August 1, 2025, story titled, “Top NFL Trade Packages for Micah Parsons After Cowboys Star Requests Move.”
“Parsons, meanwhile, would help L.A.’s already impressive defense be even better, potentially for longer. While the Chargers still have a high-profile pass-rusher in Khalil Mack, he’s 34 and set to play on a one-year deal,” Knox added.
“With $32 million in cap space, the Chargers could afford to make Parsons their long-term defensive star.”
The Cowboys Are Expected to Land Multiple 1st-Round Picks if the Team Trades Micah Parsons
It remains to be seen what Parsons could net the Cowboys if the franchise changed their stance on a potential blockbuster trade. ESPN’s Adam Schefter estimates the Cowboys could land something similar to the Chicago Bears trade for Khalil Mack in 2018. This would mean the Cowboys would acquire two first rounders as part of the deal.
“A potential trade comp for Micah Parsons: When 27-year-old Khalil Mack was traded from Oakland to Chicago, the Bears gave up two first-round picks, a third-round pick, and a sixth-round pick for Mack, a second-round pick, and a conditional fifth-round pick,” Schefter explained in an August 1, message on X.
“Now the 26-year-old Parsons — who is one of only two players in NFL history to register a dozen-plus sacks in each of his first four NFL seasons, along with Reggie White — has now requested a trade.”
Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones Does Not Appear Concerned by Micah Parsons’ Trade Push
Despite Parsons becoming more vocal with his frustration, Jones does not appear concerned. The Cowboys owner continues to stick by the team’s continual practice of getting contract extensions done later in the negotiation process.
“It’s almost akin to an option quarterback,” Jones told USA Today’s Jarrett Bell during an August 4, feature story. “He can step out, he can either hand it to that guy going down the line, or he can come on out and keep it, or he can pitch it. Three different things. The longer you give him to get to the sideline, the better chance you’ve got to make the better play.
“So, I’ve never, in any way, forgotten all the things that can happen to you if you go too quick. And that list of going too quick is just as long as the negative of getting it done early every time.”
