QB Cam Ward teases future Titans jersey number, but it's not the one he's actually going to wear in the NFL

Cam Ward is set to become the next quarterback of the Tennessee Titans when the 2025 NFL Draft gets underway next week. That seems fairly set in stone at this point.

What's not set in stone, however, is what number Ward is going to be donning on the back of his jersey.

In a recent viral Fortnite stream in which Ward was pandering to Titans fans and his future Titans teammates, he also teased what jersey number he wants to wear. "I ain’t gonna lie I like this number though," said Ward about his character wearing a Titans No. 1 jersey.

Ward wore No. 1 in college at both Miami and Washington State. It would be fitting for him, especially after he becomes the first overall pick in the draft. There's just one problem...No. 1 is retired by the Titans because of the legendary Warren Moon.

Ward's future jersey number

As much as he may like No. 1, Ward is going to have to find a different jersey number. Let's take a look at his options.

  • 0 = Belongs to Calvin Ridley
  • 1 = Retired for Warren Moon
  • 2 = Belongs to Tyjae Spears
  • 3 = Belongs to Johnny Hekker
  • 4 = Currently Available
  • 5 = Currently Available
  • 6 = Belongs to Joey Slye
  • 7 = Currently Available
  • 8 = Belongs to Will Levis
  • 9 = Retired for Steve McNaire
  • 10 = Belongs to Brandon Allen
  • 11 = Belongs to Van Jefferson
  • 12 = Belongs to Mason Kinsey
  • 13 = Belongs to James Proche II
  • 14 = Belongs to Colton Dowell
  • 15 = Belongs to Tim Boyle
  • 16 = Belongs to Treylon Burks
  • 17 = Currently Available
  • 18 = Belongs to Tay Martin
  • 19 = Belongs to Jha'Quan Jackson

Quarterbacks in the NFL are required to wear a number from 0-19. The only numbers in that range currently available with Tennessee are 4, 5, 7, and 17.

I think No. 7 is probably what I would bet on. Back when he was at Incarnate Word from 2020-21, he wore No. 7. The change to No. 1 didn't happen until Ward got to Washington State. Maybe for his NFL career, he will throw it back to his Division II roots.

Titans fans see No. 7 and think of Malik Willis. Ward has an opportunity to change the narrative and make it his own.

I could also see him going for No. 17...That's both of his college numbers put together! It's also a succesful QB number for Josh Allen and former Titans QB Ryan Tannehill.

Maybe Ward just wants a fresh start and a new number. He could go for No. 4 or No. 5. I'm also not going to rule out the idea that he gets No. 11 from Van Jefferson and does "double ones" since No. 1 is retired.
