Raiders' Davante Adams addresses links to Packers, Jets

During a Tuesday appearance on the "Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams," star Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams addressed being recruited by running back Josh Jacobs after Jacobs left the Raiders and signed with the Green Bay Packers in free agency.

"It was definitely a joke, but it was one of those jokes where he was serious because he definitely would like that," Adams said about a text he received from Jacobs about potentially returning to the Packers, per Nick Shook of the NFL's website. "I told him you go ahead and hold it down. I'm gonna hold it down over here. I don't think I'll be coming back over there. Never know what's gonna happen. If they ship me off, there's not much I can do about it, but I'm a Raider. So nobody got to worry about that."

Adams played alongside current New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers when both were with the Packers from 2014 through the 2021 season. While Adams agreed to a five-year, $141.25M contract to join the Raiders via a trade from the Packers in March 2022, he has repeatedly been linked with the Jets since they landed Rodgers from Green Bay in April 2023.

Adams acknowledged on Tuesday that Rodgers has been "in that ear" about possibly relocating to the Big Apple before September. It doesn't sound like such a move is in the cards.

"It's not as easy as — obviously we can get together and talk about the old times and potential of doing this and that, but like I said, I'm a Raider, and he knows that," Adams said about conversations he's had with Rodgers. "Maybe in the next lifetime."

Adams was among the Raiders players who campaigned for team owner Mark Davis to make former interim head coach Antonio Pierce the club's full-time coach this offseason. The 31-year-old said on Tuesday that he "basically tried to do everything" he possibly could "to make it to where the front office didn't have any other choice" but to hire Pierce after he went 5-4 in the interim role.

Whether or not the Raiders can keep Adams happy through at least March 2025 shall be seen.
