Former Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Jose Ureña elected free agency in mid-June after being designated for assignment by the team.
Now, the right-handed pitcher has found his next home. Ureña signed a minor league contract with the Minnesota Twins. He was assigned to Triple-A St. Paul.
Ureña made just two appearances for the Dodgers in 2025. He allowed one run across three innings pitched against the New York Mets at the beginning of June. He threw two strikeouts and issued one walk on 37 pitches in two games.
The right-hander produced a 3.00 ERA and 1.667 WHIP in his brief stint with the Dodgers. Ureña joined the defending champions after making six appearances for the Toronto Blue Jays earlier this season.
He posted a 3.65 ERA across 12.1 innings pitched with Toronto. The Blue Jays then designated Ureña for assignment, and picked up by the Dodgers who have a depleted pitching staff.
The veteran reliever began the year with the Mets on a minor league deal, making just one appearance for the National League powerhouse. Ureña allowed five runs across three innings in his only outing with the Mets.
