The Red Sox will start the 2025 season with a limited starting pitching unit. Starter Brayan Bello is already dealing with shoulder soreness during this Spring Training session. MassLive's Sean McAdam reports that the Red Sox are reportedly being cautious with Brayan and will start the season on the injured list. They are hoping to have him back completely healthy in early April.

Brayan Bello will NOT be ready for Opening Day and will open the season on the IL, the Red Sox announced (via @Sean_McAdam).

They hope he will be ready in early April.

Boston will start their 2025 season in a four-game series on the road against the Texas Rangers. They will follow that series with a three-game series against the Baltimore Orioles.

The Red Sox will play their first home game of the season on April 4 in a three-game series against the St. Louis Cardinals. Bello could be 100% at that point for the Red Sox.

It isn't ideal for Bello to be experiencing soreness in his throwing shoulder, but they aren't looking to take away chances. The Red Sox are looking to be a more efficient pitching unit than they had last season.

Bello is entering his fourth Major League season in his career, all with the Red Sox. He is coming off a career year, where he played and started 30 games and played 162.7 innings. Bello delivered 153 strikeouts and accounted for a 4.49 ERA while allowing 157 hits, 84 runs (19 of them home runs), and 64 walks.

The Red Sox are looking for a potential All-Star year from Bello on top of the stacked starting pitching they've already assembled.
