Estévez is among a handful of relievers who've been connected to Boston since the Red Sox missed out on star lefty Tanner Scott. The 32-year-old would add another experienced, high-leverage arm to Boston's bullpen, which currently lacks an established closer.

However, according to MassLive's Chris Cotillo, the Red Sox aren't top contenders to land Estévez.

"On Estévez: Red Sox 'have checked in but not serious' as of this morning," Cotillo wrote Wednesday on the X platform. "I know you've heard that one before. Wonder if they're looking at trade market for bullpen. To me, just spend. You have room. Lots of guys out there. Just overpay a little and get one."

MLB Trade Rumors projects Estévez to land a three-year, $27 million deal in free agency.

Estévez posted a 3.22 ERA with 57 saves across 117 appearances over the last two campaigns. He spent all of 2023 with the Los Angeles Angels, who traded him to the Philadelphia Phillies midway through last season.
