Longtime MLB analyst Keith Law had sky-high praise for Boston Red Sox prospect Roman Anthony.

On Monday, Law released the 2025 edition of his “Top 100 MLB prospects.” Not only did Law rank Anthony as the No. 1 prospect in all of baseball, he said the outfielder fit the mold of a guy who could be No. 1 in the majors.

“He’s got a chance to be a 30-homer, high-average, high-OBP guy in right field, maybe with plus defense there, which is a ‘best player in the league’ profile,” Law wrote.

The 21-year-old Anthony has rocketed through Boston’s farm system, showing maturity and development beyond his years. Despite playing in high school as recently as 2022, Anthony is projected to break into the majors this season.

The No. 79 overall pick of the 2022 MLB Draft, Anthony started the 2024 season at Double-A Portland before finishing at Triple-A Worcester. Law says he expected that development to continue thanks to his sweet swing and discipline at the plate.

“Anthony has shot through the minors, reaching Triple-A in his second full pro season out of high school, thanks to one of the best swings in all of the minors and an extremely advanced approach for a hitter so young.”

Law did have a couple of concerns. He noted that Anthony is “not very rangy” and may move from center field to a corner outfield spot in the majors. He was also wary of Anthony’s ground-ball rate spiking once he reached Triple-A.

Back in November, Baseball America named Anthony as its No. 1 prospect in the game. However, the site dropped Anthony to No. 2 earlier this week due to the arrival of Japanese superstar Roki Sasaki to the majors. Law did not include Sasaki in his rankings, writing that it was “silly” to label the two-time NPB All-Star a “prospect.”

The Red Sox were well-represented in Law’s rankings. Kristian Campbell, who was unranked in 2024, soared all the way up to No. 9.

Other top Red Sox prospects include shortstop Marcelo Mayer (No. 28), shortstop Franklin Arias (No. 42) and infielder Yoelin Cespedes.
