Vanderpump Rules fans followed Jax Taylor and his wife Brittany Cartwright in their new series. While fans expected to watch the couple navigate caring for their son Cruz and opening a bar, they saw something else. Brittany and Jax’s marriage fell apart in The Valley. Eventually, Jax entered rehab for a 30-day stay to work on his mental health.
The decision to go to rehab allegedly wasn’t Jax Taylor’s idea
One major incident was the tipping point for Jax. When he discovered that Brittany was seeing his friend, Julian Sensley. Jax and Brittany were already separated. “One of the rules was no friends or [anybody] we know. But the fact that it was one of my friends … I just felt like it was such a slap in the face,” Jax previously said. Well, Jax’s wandering ways are legendary.
Of course, he didn’t handle the news of Brittany dating Julian well. “I just saw red. I’m not going to lie to you. I went crazy,” Jax explained. “I threw furniture. Thank God my son was upstairs … Two days later, I ended up in an institution.” Following Jax’s release from rehab, Brittany filed for divorce. However, going to rehab allegedly wasn’t Jax’s decision.
“Production told Jax that if he wanted to film The Valley, he had to go to rehab,” a source told The U.S. Sun. “So he went to save his job. It was a non-negotiable for them. It wasn’t his idea.” After Jax exhibited “inappropriate” behavior during a fight with Brittany, the decision was reportedly made. “Jax went over the line on this occasion,” the source added.
In the end, Jax is grateful that he worked on his mental health. He was diagnosed with bipolar disorder and began taking medication. However, not everyone is convinced that rehab changed Jax. His estranged wife said his “rage texts” from the facility prove it. Hopefully, Jax and Brittany can work everything out amicably for the sake of their son.
The Valley is now streaming on Peacock.
