REPORT: QB Teddy Bridgewater Coming Out Of Retirement To Sign With Super Bowl Favorite In Shocking Turn Of Events

Teddy Bridgewater is coming out of retirement and returning to the NFL.

The quarterback led his high school alma mater, Miami Northwestern, to a state championship a few weeks ago. And it appears the victory has left him nursing some football fever as he confirmed he would return to playing shortly after.

Bridgewater told NFL Network’s ‘The Insiders’ “that’s the plan” while discussing a potential comeback, revealing he would sign with a team and return to coaching in February.

NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport, Mike Garafolo, and Tom Pelissero have all reported that he is set to sign with the Detroit Lions in a move that will reunite him with the NFC team after he signed on as Jared Goff’s backup in 2023.

The Lions should benefit from the player’s leadership and experience. Of course, they’re really signing him as an option who would provide them with adequate cover at the quarterback position should Goff suffer an injury.

Teddy Bridgewater Has Made Several Stops In The NFL Since He Was Drafted

Teddy Bridgewater was a first-round pick out of Louisville by the Minnesota Vikings in 2014. He suffered a devastating knee injury two years later that kept him out for close to two seasons.

He has since signed with the New Orleans Saints, Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos, and Miami Dolphins. Bridgewater has played 79 games in the NFL, starting 65 of them while passing for 15,120 yards, 75 touchdowns, and 47 interceptions.

The Lions, meanwhile, are looking to go all the way to the Super Bowl after putting a strong campaign together, having fallen short in a loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the playoffs last season.
