There’s never a dull moment in the NFL. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported the Seattle Seahawks are trading quarterback Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders, where he’ll reunite with Pete Carroll. The Raiders gave Seattle a third-round pick for the compensation.
Smith, 34, came to Seattle in 2020 with little to no expectations after being viewed as a “bust.” Smith got his opportunity in 2022 and has not looked back since. But after throwing 15 interceptions behind a shaky offensive line, Seattle is going in a different direction.
We haven’t even gotten to the best part.
Sam Darnold, who will be a free agent next week, is expected to be pursued by the Seahawks. So, after a one-year stint with the San Francisco 49ers that Darnold followed up with a career season, he could be back in the NFC West facing the Niners twice a season, at least for 2025.
We’ll have updates on where Darnold lands or whoever Seattle signs as their signal-caller, but enjoy the Friday night news dump.
