Fans had high hopes that the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kim Richards would stay on the straight and narrow regarding her sobriety journey. However, those hopes were recently numbed recently when reports came out that she had relapsed.
Not only that, but things became so dire that she had to be put on a psychiatric hold. Now, an insider has come forward and said that the family had reached a breaking point. Also, Kyle Richards has been spotted for the first time since this all went down.
Of course, Kim has battled addiction and other personal issues for several years. Naturally, none of this is to be taken lightly as millions of people suffer from addiction issues, and many of them relapse after becoming sober.
Recently, an insider spoke to People and said that Kim’s “reliance on alcohol has been an ongoing source of conflict between her and her sisters.” The source then says that Kim’s substance abuse has been especially hard for Kyle.
They continued, “It particularly weighs heavily on Kyle, who has always been the worrier of the family. She does her best to take care of Kim — and essentially bankrolls Kim’s life, with Kathy [Hilton] — but never knows where the line goes between helping and enabling.”
The insider then discusses the family reaching a breaking point with Kim. According to them, “The family is very private about details, but from the little they’ve said, it’s clear they’ve reached another breaking point with her.” The insider went on to say that Kim is in “a really bad place” and that “this has happened before.”
They add, “It’s the same cycle: chaos until there’s some incident that gets Kim back on track, then brief steadiness as they repair their relationship, then the drinking starts again, Kim makes excuses, Kyle pleads she gets help, etc., etc.”
Regarding Kyle, the source says she’s “torn apart by it all. She has the biggest heart. She loves her sister so much, and always will, but she doesn’t know what else to do.”
According to the Daily Mail, Kyle has been seen publicly for the first time since Kim was placed on the 5150 hold. She was seen wearing jeans, a white T-shirt, and a baseball cap as she went to the L.A. County Probation Department and Superior Court in Van Nuys.
