Dorit Kemsley looked back on her four-hour therapy session with her estranged husband, Paul “PK” Kemsley, 57, after Tuesday night’s episode of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
After opening up to Bozoma Saint John, 47, about PK’s “bombshell” revelations regarding his thoughts about divorce and admitting to Erika Jayne, 53, that their marriage had grown toxic, Dorit, 48, accused PK, 57, of a “mindf**k” as she explained her decision to keep their children, 10-year-old Jagger and 8-year-old Phoenix, in the dark about their separation.
“[Leaving therapy felt] like a dagger in the heart, and it’s not the first time I felt that,” Dorit admitted on the January 7 episode of the RHOBH: After Show.
According to Dorit, PK’s outburst about divorce wasn’t “sensible,” even if he was mentioning the possibility in an effort to justify an argument.
“You don’t know if it’s reactionary. It’s like, ‘Wait a minute. That is the first time you’ve said it. Now, this is serious words. I’m entitled to know your feelings, you know? You owe me that,'” she reasoned. “And then even from that, there was no, ‘Yeah, that’s what I want. That’s what I’m thinking.’ So then, it’s like, I don’t understand.”
After her and PK’s therapy session, Dorit found herself wondering, “Am I preparing for a divorce? [Or] am I not?”
“It’s such a mindf*ck,” she admitted, “because even when it’s been tossed around, and then when we’ve made up, or when we’ve spoken or when we’re peaceful, [he’s like] ‘Oh please. I say things.’”
Understandably, Dorit has felt that it’s been challenging to differentiate between PK’s statements when he’s upset and his true feelings.
“It’s so hard, really, really hard … and then you think about, ‘Well, how do you react? If I react and I start going and I file for divorce and I start that train, or if I don’t, and then, any which way, I don’t like that aspect.’ It’s hard,” she stated. “It’s toxic.”
It’s also another reason why she has yet to tell the kids about their split.
“[He] and I need to figure out. I need to have a really good understanding of what’s going on so I can prepare them,” she explained.
As for where she and PK stand today, Dorit says they’re in “exactly the same place [they] were in the beginning.”
“There’s been movement, but it’s just not forward. It’s left to right. I’d love to go forward. And I’m consistently trying to advocate for that,” she shared before noting that PK recently got sober.
“From what I’ve understood and learned, that’s a journey … He spent a long time abusing alcohol. He was pouring alcohol on a lot of feelings, and now he doesn’t have that privilege. And so there’s a lot of feelings, and I think that we can’t snap into a place where we fit because the work that needs to be done is never going to go away unless we do the work,” she noted.
“Ask me in another six months. Hopefully, I have a better answer,” she added.
