Philadelphia Eagles rookie cornerback Quinyon Mitchell has quickly shown he has what it takes to help his team take down Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX.
Through the Eagles' playoff run so far, Mitchell has allowed five catches on 15 total targets for 24 yards while snagging two interceptions for a passer rating allowed of 2.8.
Mitchell's next test will be tough since Mahomes is one of the best and most accurate passing quarterbacks in the NFL, so forcing turnovers will be a major key for the Eagles if they plan on winning SBLIX.
Mitchell will be going up against Chiefs' top receivers group featuring Xavier Worthy, Hollywood Brown, and JuJu Smith-Schuster.
The good news is Mitchell already has plenty of experience facing some of the league's most talented wideouts and was able to shut them down, including Ja'Marr Chase, Drake London, and Mike Evans.
Mitchell held Chase and London to 54 yards each while Evans racked up 94 yards.
The Eagles' former 2024 first-round draft pick also notoriously held Washington Commanders star Terry McLaurin to zeros across the board (targets, receptions, and yards) in Week 11.
It's crazy to think early on in the season Mitchell was criticized for dropping interceptions. But now there's not much to say since he's a huge reason why the Eagles have made it this far.
With that being said, it looks like all of Mitchell's hard work after hours paid off.
"My approach is staying the same, each and every day, coming into work, studying on my own, studying with the coaches," Mitchell said back Week 16. "I feel like everybody on the team is real hard on me. They expect better from me, and I appreciate it."
Fans can catch Mitchell use his ball-hawking skills one last time this season versus Mahomes as the Eagles look to beat Kansas City in Super Bowl 59 on Feb. 9.
