Romeo Doubs is Still WR1 for the Packers

He might not be the offense’s biggest name or have the most talented skill set, but Romeo Doubs should still be considered the top wide receiver in head coach Matt LaFleur’s offense.

While numbers can tell one story, big plays in big moments can tell another.

Romeo Doubs Makes Plays When It Matters

While the former Nevada star might not be recording 1,000+ receiving yards on 90+ receptions each year, he knows how to be clutch for the Packers in the right moments.

Whether it was as a rookie trying to prove himself to Hall of Fame quarterback Aaron Rodgers or right now, heading into his fourth and most important season yet in Green Bay, Doubs is more than a key member of this team.

Fans can go back to his two-touchdown game against the Seattle Seahawks in prime time this past season as a reminder that when called upon, No. 87 shows up in big ways.

Again, Doubs has not put together the three most productive seasons from a statistical perspective, but he has proven to be very sure-handed over his time in Green Bay.

His 147 career receptions for 1,700 yards and 15 touchdowns don’t scream superstar or even Pro Bowl just yet, but that is part of the reason why defenses have to make sure they remember where he is at all times.

A Dangerous Wide Receiver Core Has Been Created in Green Bay

Despite not having any Pro Bowl wide receivers since franchise legend Davante Adams was traded after the 2021 season, the Packers have steadily built up their wide receiver core into one of the league’s best.

While Doubs might be the most sure-handed of the bunch, all-purpose machine Jayden Reed is one of the more electrifying players on offense in the NFL when the ball is in his hands.

Christian Watson (16.9 yards per catch), who was drafted with Doubs in 2022, is a dangerous speedster when fully healthy, as well.

Slot wide receiver Dontayvion Wicks is perhaps the team’s best-kept secret, too.

The team also drafted first-round wide receiver Matthew Golden out of Texas, along with former TCU star Savion Williams, this past April.

While these players may not have the biggest names, they certainly possess some talent and are still very young, which is why Packers fans should feel excited about the 2025 season.
