Romeo Doubs has been the subject of trade rumors for months. And we're talking long before the Green Bay Packers used two of their first three selections in the 2025 NFL Draft on wide receivers, taking Matthew Golden in Round 1 at No. 23 overall and Savion Williams in Round 3 at No. 87 overall.
So, when you add those two to a receiving corps that already includes wideouts Jayden Reed, Christian Watson (when healthy, of course), Dontayvion Wicks, and tight end Tucker Kraft, someone might just have to go before training camp begins.
And Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report seems to think Doubs is that guy, listing him at No. 6 on his NFL Trade Block Big Board following mandatory minicamps.
As far as potential landing spots are concerned, he has two teams in mind, both of which brought in a high-profile former Packers player this offseason: Aaron Rodgers' Pittsburgh Steelers and Davante Adams' Los Angeles Rams.
Now, if Green Bay opts to actively shop Doubs, there are concerns that could scare potential suitors away.
For starters, the Packers suspended him for a week last season for conduct detrimental to the team after he missed several days of practice, reportedly due to being unhappy with his role in the passing game, which he ultimately denied.
To his credit, he did take responsibility for his lack of communication with the club and came back the following week and scored a pair of touchdowns in a win over the Arizona Cardinals.
The bigger concern, however, is the concussion issue he developed in the second half of the season, suffering his first in Week 12 against the San Francisco 49ers and then a second in Green Bay's postseason loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. And that second one was with the use of a Guardian Cap.
When healthy and on his best behavior, Doubs undoubtedly has plenty of talent, catching 147 passes for 1,700 yards and 15 touchdowns over his first three seasons, which are respectable numbers for a fourth-round pick.
Again, though, he simply seems like the odd man out in what's become a crowded Packers receiving room. As for the two teams Knox mentioned, both certainly make sense, as long as he understands that he's never going to be the top option.
With the Steelers, Doubs won't take any targets away from DK Metcalf but could challenge Robert Woods and Calvin Austin III for snaps. A trade to Pittsburgh also reunites him with Aaron Rodgers, whose last year in Green Bay in 2022 was Doubs' rookie season, one in which he caught 42 balls for 425 yards and three scores.
So, there's at least some familiarity there, which everyone knows Rodgers likes with his receivers.
Doubs missed out on being teammates with Davante Adams by a season but could be a solid backup for him with the Rams, who still have Puka Nacua but said goodbye to Cooper Kupp and Demarcus Robinson this offseason.
It's also worth noting that LA's assistant head coach and passing game coordinator is Aubrey Pleasant, who served as an offensive consultant for Green Bay during Doubs' rookie season. So, again, there's some familiarity here.
The Packers aren't likely to get much for Doubs in a trade, but even a Day 3 draft pick is better than nothing for a guy who's in the final year of his rookie contract and likely wouldn't be back in 2026 anyway.
