Rumors: Mavericks in serious danger of losing 7-foot-2 standout to Knicks

The Dallas Mavericks are in the middle of one of their most injury-riddled seasons of all time, and despite all of the adversity they're battling, Jason Kidd is finding ways to lead them to wins. This Mavericks team never gives up, and they are laying a solid foundation for the final stretch of the season.

Knicks sign Moses Brown to two-way contract

Kyrie Irving has taken on a hefty load within the offense to help make up for the loss of Luka Doncic, and he has been playing brilliantly as of late. Irving is averaging 30.7 points, 6.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.7 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game while shooting 47.5 percent from the field and 40 percent from downtown. He has helped make up for Dallas' lack of guard depth, as this position group definitely took a blow at the trade deadline after losing Doncic and Quentin Grimes, but one area that he can't help with is Dallas' center dilemma.

Despite Irving jokingly claiming that he is a power forward, he can't help Dallas' injury problem at center, but one signing from last week has helped the Mavs significantly ever since arriving. The Mavericks signed Moses Brown to a 10-day deal to give Kidd another body down low, and he has produced more than Dallas could have ever asked.

Brown's exit from Mavs is inevitable, and Knicks have shown interest

While Brown's first two games with the team were relatively quiet, he erupted for 20 points, 11 rebounds, three steals, and two blocks, on Thursday night against the Charlotte Hornets. Unfortunately for Mavericks fans, Brown's 10-day deal expires after tonight, and there is no way to bring him back right now due to cap constraints.

His strong performance on Thursday gave him excellent momentum heading into tonight's game against the Milwaukee Bucks, and he is already generating some interest around the league for his next stop.

According to Knicks insider Ian Begley of SNY, Brown is on the Knicks' "radar" for their 15th roster spot. Brown spent time with the Knicks' G League team, the Westchester Knicks, earlier this season, and he dominated. If Brown were to sign with the Knicks, he would have the chance to compete for a title this year, and this would be the first time he has the chance to play in the NBA Playoffs.

Standing at 7-foot-2 with a 7-foot-5 wingspan, Brown alters most drives to the rim, and his immense size makes players think twice before attacking the rim. While his offensive game is somewhat limited, he finishes everything above the rim when he has the chance and provides a big target for his teammates to dump the ball off when driving to the cup.

Brown also always brings excellent energy and runs the floor hard in transition. Whoever signs him will be landing a solid backup big man with elite size who happens to be a great locker room guy. He brings his all every time he steps onto the floor, and he is truly thankful for the opportunity Dallas gave him over the last week or so.

The writing is on the wall that Brown won't be returning to Dallas this season, and whoever lands him will be landing a serviceable backup big man who is ready to provide whatever is asked of him.
