The nine-time Pro Bowl quarterback shared an emotional post as he sent a heartfelt birthday greeting to his father, Harrison Wilson, III, who passed away in 2010. It has been more than a decade since the Steelers star lost his father, but it is clear that he is still carrying the burden to this day.

"Missing you today," Wilson captioned his post. "Happy Birthday to my Inspiration. Dad I love you. 14 years ago. Nov 9, 2010 you left this earth to go somewhere better… Heaven. But you left me with one thing that will forever stick with me… Your SMILE.

"Keep Smiling even when it gets hard… no obstacle is too big for God. Joy is forever. I know you got the best seat in the house. 🕊️🕊️🕊️"

Wilson's wife, Ciara, caught wind of her husband's emotional post and she just had to react.

The renowned recording artist shared Wilson's post on Instagram along with a handful of white heart emojis. Ciara also decided to use the 1996 hit song "Missing You" by Brandy, Tamia, Gladys Knight and Chaka Khan as the background music for her post.

Wilson and Ciara have been married since 2016. The couple have four children, including Future Zahir, whom the multi-Grammy Award-winning R&B singer shared with rapper Future.

As for Wilson's father, Harrison Wilson III had an extremely brief stint in the NFL in 1980. He was a wide receiver for the San Diego Chargers preseason squad. He passed away on June 9, 2010 due to complications from diabetes. He was 55. Tragically, that was just one day after Wilson was drafted by the Colorado Rockies of the MLB.

Wilson eventually changed sports and was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks in the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft. The rest, as they say, is history.
