While the New Orleans Saints season wasn't a good one, there's been some really good things off the field.
Cam Jordan, who was announced as this year's Bart Starr Award recipient and is the Saints' Walter Payton Man of the Year nominee, announced some great news for some graduating high school seniors on Tuesday afternoon.
In partnership with his foundation, Jordan announced the Cam Jordan Foundation Legacy Scholarship Program. Under it, he will be awarding four students with full tuition coverage for four years at either an in-state college or university this year.
The program will also be supported in part by Raising Cane’s, Google Pathfinder Beyond Sports, Microsoft and Entergy.
“Through this program, we aim to empower future leaders each year who will make a meaningful difference in their communities and beyond,” said Jordan. “Investing in our youth is investing in the future of Louisiana. I am also so grateful that we have several incredible partners who have come on board to help me in this endeavor.”
The Cam Jordan Foundation Legacy Scholarship Program will cover up to $12,500 annually for each recipient for tuition, with remaining funds applied to books, room and board or other expenses. Recipients will also receive a new laptop provided by Microsoft to support academic success.
The recipients will also receive mentorship, career readiness workshops and have internship opportunities.
The applications are open on Monday, Feb. 10 and the deadline to apply is Saturday, March 15. The award announcements will be Tuesday, Apr. 15. Interested students can visit the Cam Jordan Foundation website here.
