With a daunting first six weeks of their schedule, New Orleans needs to get a victory in Week 1. If they do, they will extend a leading active NFL streak.

Saints own longest active Week 1 win streak in NFL

New Orleans has come out victorious in five straight season openers. After recent years of overall disappointment, this may surprise many fans. They've gotten off to the best possible start for half a decade in a row.

The Miami Dolphins, Philadelphia Eagles, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers have won three season openers in a row. No team has won four Week 1 games in a row, so New Orleans owns a multi-game lead on the rest of the league.

This year, they look to extended their streak to six against the Carolina Panthers. The Saints are currently favored in that matchup at home.

Entering this weekend, New Orleans is fairly healthy when it comes to their projected starting lineup. For more info on their initial 2024 unofficial depth chart to begin the regular season, click here.

Sounds like sunshine and butterflies, right? Not so much if you look at the Saints' history - as a whole. The Saints have not had success in the long-term at starting their season strong.

Saints are just 21-36 all-time in season openers

Accordingly, this recent success is not quite a trend yet. They've got a ways to go just to get back to .500 in Week 1. Let's see if they can take another step in that direction this Sunday in a winnable matchup.
