Saints Cancel Final Day of Mandatory Minicamp Practice

The New Orleans Saints have canceled their final mandatory minicamp practice. The team will instead do a team outing.

Head coach Kellen Moore has preached team building, which has become a clear priority with the team opting to skip over the final day of the mandatory minicamp.

During OTAs, the Saints continued to participate in team and community-building outings. The team first went paintballing then followed that with a day of community service work. The players and coaches spent a day refurbishing the Trinity Community Center in Hollygrove.

The new coaching regime is hyperfocused on helping rebuild the culture in New Orleans. During Dennis Allen's time as head coach, many have felt the former defensive-minded coach lost the locker room numerous times. Moore and his staff are trying to prevent that while building relationships with his players.

The Saints' first two minicamp practices were a huge success with fans' attendance, selling out both days. While Thursday's practice wasn't open to the public, some fans may be disappointed in the final practice cancellation due to a lack of on-field action and media relayed.

Others may be critical of the team passing on the final day of practice and focusing on team building as a lack of preparation. The Saints went 5-12 during the 2024 season and often looked sloppy and disorganized. Passing on another potential day of team drills and on-field chemistry building could be seen as a negative thing. But to the majority, the Saints canceling their final practice won't affect much on the field and is a positive thing. New Orleans has struggled in recent years with culture and locker room problems. Trying to get ahead on team building and chemistry can have a much bigger impact than one day of minicamp drills.
