Saints’ chances of winning key upcoming NFC matchup just went up without them doing anything

The New Orleans Saints are on a roll right now in every facet early in the 2024 regular season. Their offense has scored 91 points in two games. The defense is flying around and stymied the Dallas Cowboys for nearly an entire half in their second game of the season.

All in all, a lot is going the Saints' way early in the year. Knock on wood.

The Saints will face the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3. Philly will be without one of their most talented skill players, according to Lisa Salters.

A.J. Brown expected to miss matchup vs. Saints

Brown expects to miss a couple of weeks due to his hamstring injury. He missed Week 2 against the Atlanta Falcons due to the ailment.

For New Orleans, they could really look to lock down Devonta Smith in their secondary with Brown out. He is easily their best target in that scenario.

They've done well over the first two weeks at preventing big plays, outside of a broken play TD given up to CeeDee Lamb. Other than that, they've played extremely clean, even without Marshon Lattimore in Week 2.

Kool-Aid McKinstry filled in nicely on the outside for the Saints, and Alontae Taylor may see some of Smith when he gets lined up in the slot as well.

Lattimore's status for Week 3 remains unknown

Dennis Allen said that Lattimore wanted to play in Week 2. The Saints staff erred on the side of caution with him after recent years of a multitude of injuries to their star defensive back.

Regardless, the Saints have shown plenty of talent on the back end to find success against the Eagles passing game. They will need to contain Jalen Hurts and Saquon Barkley on the ground, though.

The challenge certainly remains a tough one for New Orleans, even without A.J. Brown in the lineup.
