Alvin Kamara is off to an unbelievable start in the 2024 NFL season. After plenty of doubt over the last couple of years, he looks the best he has in his entire career.
Alvin Kamara has the most fantasy points through two weeks by any RB since 2017.
The Saints made a smart decision in April that is helping Kamara out a ton right now, though. Picking rookie offensive tackle Taliese Fuaga to bolster their offensive line has helped rejuvenate Kamara's career.
Taliese Fuaga dominating early in his NFL career
People mover. Mauler. Grinder. All of those describe Fuaga's game. He was the best run blocker in the 2024 NFL Draft class. So far, that is showing up on film for New Orleans.
Trevor Penning is also playing the best football of his pro career so far this season as well.
In Week 2, they legitimately just ran over the Dallas Cowboy defensive line. That suit includes star pass rusher Micah Parsons and Pro Bowler Demarcus Lawrence. On some reps, every OL on the Saints won their rep to create pure bliss for Kamara and the other runners.
Fuaga has been solid, along with the other starters, in the pass game as well. The interior has statistically been the best blockers in the pass game in the entire NFL, and the rookie is showing clear development in that area, too.
Klint Kubiak gets the ball out of Derek Carr's hands often, but they still have to play complimentary football up front in order for him to be efficient. They've done that incredibly well through two weeks.
Take a look at the Chicago Bears right now. Their offense has been putrid through two weeks, mostly due to offensive line struggles.
They selected wide receiver Rome Odunze in the 2024 NFL Draft, ahead of Fuaga and some other notable OL options. Odunze is an incredibly talented player, but clearly, their line needed a lot of help when they passed on those guys.
It's making life much, much harder on rookie quarterback Caleb Williams. Meanwhile, Carr and the skill position players in New Orleans are lining their best lives early in the season.
Selecting Fuaga in the first round of this past year's draft looks like an awesome decision by the Saints front office so far.
New Orleans has certainly made bad decisions in round one over the past handful of years. Fuaga is not one.
