Saints fan favorite backs up QB Derek Carr on strong take about Taysom Hill's talent

The New Orleans Saints and their fans have a special place in their hearts for Taysom Hill. Recently, Tyrann Mathieu threw his hat into the ring of respecting the ultimate utility weapon in the NFL.

Mathieu's take on Taysom

Mathieu said that Taysom is the best football player he's ever played with on Up and Adams . Keep in mind that he has suited up alongside guys like Patrick Mahomes, Alvin Kamara, Travis Kelce, and plenty of other superstars.

"People say it to me... 'like man you're the best football player I've ever played with' and I'm like y'all never played with Taysom Hill though."

This statement from the safety doubles down on a comment he made in August, too. Then, Mathieu did not make it quite as direct that he felt that way about Taysom, but it was on the table.

The Saints starting quarterback also says that Hill is the best player he has ever played with, too.

“He can do everything. Throws, runs, catches, fullback, quarterback, tight end, receiver in the slot, blocks punts, personal protector. Just because of how stats work, I don’t know how the stats work, but that man is a Hall of Fame player."

Mathieu has a great chance to see Canton in the future as a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, similar to Mahomes and Kelce. Don't forget that he played with the likes of Patrick Peterson and J.J. Watt as well.

The veteran safety would probably contend the voters to get Hill into the HOF, too, but that would be an uphill battle. He may have the most unique role in league history, but the stats are nowhere near historic on a large scale basis.

Regardless, Mathieu's feelings on Taysom's value and talent are quite clear. Major respect from one of the top safeties of this generation.
