Saints' latest injury report has key starter taking a big step back ahead of matchup with Cowboys

The New Orleans Saints are prepping themselves for a major NFC showdown in Week 2 against the Dallas Cowboys. Their latest injury report has thrown up a couple of major red flags, though.

Saints fans are convinced the season is over after reports of a Taliese Fuaga injury

Taliese Fuaga downgraded on Thursday injury report

The rookie tackle is still dealing with a back injury. He was limited on Wednesday but did not suit up on Thursday.

Marshon Lattimore does not practice for 2nd straight day

Lattimore is still dealing with a hamstring issue that came to a head in Week 1. The Saints removed him from the game in the second half. He did not return.

On Sunday afternoon, he told reporters that he was "good" regarding the ailment. That being said, the Saints would probably like for him to see some kind of practice action on Friday if he is to play on Sunday against Dallas.

Fuaga had an unbelievably impressive game in Week 1. He showed off his elite upside as a run blocker against the Carolina Panthers. His pass protection was consistent, too.

The rookie tackle was a part of an offensive line performance that really opened up some eyes around NFL media and the Saints fan base. They were surprisingly clean in Week 1, albeit against a struggling defense.

As for Lattimore, he had a fine first half against subpar talent for the Panthers outside. Alontae Taylor had a career game with three sacks as the slot cornerback. Paulson Adebo had a strong game at CB, too.

Star safety Tyrann Mathieu and offensive guard Lucas Patrick were limited on Thursday after not practicing on Wednesday. That's a good step forward for both of them, at least.

Make sure to keep an eye out for the teams' Friday injury report to get one final update for all of these key players before Sunday's clash.
