Saints' latest injury report has things trending in the right direction for key Pro Bowler ahead of Panthers game

The New Orleans Saints are just days away from kicking off their 2024 regular season. They'll face the Carolina Panthers in Week 1. The excitement for NFL football has begun to boil over by now. The NFL officially returns tonight, Thursday September 5th.

Dennis Allen optimistic on knee injury for Saints CB Marshon Lattimore

As for the Saints, they released their second injury report of the week on Thursday afternoon. Most of it matched the Wednesday report with a couple of notable tweaks.

Marshon Lattimore practices fully on Thursday

Lattimore is the top cornerback option for New Orleans and when healthy, one of the best in the NFL. The former Pro Bowl CB needs to stay healthy in 2024 if the Saints want to re-establish dominance on defense.

Pete Werner practiced fully, too. His status seems pretty safe for Sunday's NFC South clash. Plus, Willie Gay Jr. and Nick Saldiveri both contained a limited status. Keep an eye on them on Sunday morning.

As for A.T. Perry, the young wideout is now dealing with a hand injury.

He was not listed on the report for Wednesday but joined it on Thursday. Clearly, it was something important enough to keep him off the field. At the least, his hand issue is a piece to monitor entering the weekend.

He is the Saints' third option at WR, and they do not possess the proven depth necessary to fill his void if he were to miss Week 1. Other young players would have to step up, like Bub Means and Mason Tipton.

That being said, we should know more regarding Perry's status by the end of the week.

The four "DNPs" from Wednesday overlapped into Thursday on the report. None of those players have returned as of yet.
