The New Orleans Saints are moving on from a recent draft pick, who has flashed at times during his early NFL career. A position of need just got thinner for the Saints offense.
Saints waive wide receiver A.T. Perry
Nick Underhill was the first to report the surprising move.
This is a peculiar move by New Orleans. Perry is a young option at wideout and made an impact as a rookie in 2023.
The wide receiver position for the Saints is not a deep one, at the moment. Perry was looked at as the third WR on the depth chart entering the season, but it looks like multiple players have passed him up, including Mason Tipton and Cedrick Wilson Jr., so far this season.
The reasoning for this move is unknown right now. We may learn why the Saints chose this route when head coach Dennis Allen talks to the media next.
Perry has dealt with multiple injuries so far this season as well. Even when healthy, he has not recorded a catch during the 2024 season yet.
Perry will assuredly land with a new team. It will probably happen fairly quickly as well. If not, I'd expect him back on the Saints practice squad.
