Saints make tough decision that will actually help Alvin Kamara in the long run

The New Orleans Saints are in full preparation mode for a winnable Week 14 game against the New York Giants, losers of seven in a row.

Alvin Kamara becomes all-time leading rusher in Saints history

Roster moves

The Saints signed safety Millard Bradford and interior offensive lineman Sincere Haynesworth to the practice squad. They also terminated the running back Jacob Kibodi's practice squad contract.

These are a couple of intriguing moves, considering the health and potential return of Erik McCoy and/or Kendre Miller.

Kendre Miller ready to go?

The young running back is eligible to return this week from injured reserve. Many staff members and players felt that Miller should have never gone on IR a second time this season, but Dennis Allen felt it was necessary before he was fired.

Saints interim head coach Darren Rizzi is excited for Miller's return and potential in the offense going forward.

“Kendre Miller’s a talented football player. There’s no one that’s gonna sit here and ever deny that.”

“You’ve seen that when he’s been active and healthy, that he’s a guy that can produce for the team. He’s a really good change of pace back, he brings another dimension to it.” -- Rizzi

The moves early in the week could point to some confidence in Miller's return from IR, and the Saints await the practice statuses of center Erik McCoy this week as well. He did not play in Week 13 against the Rams.

If Miller can return this week and stay healthy, it will be a huge load off of star RB Alvin Kamara.

His workload has been extremely heavy this season due to injuries, and Taysom Hill is now out for the season with a torn ACL.

There is no doubt that the veteran will be happy to see his young, dynamic teammate available again to take some of the pressure off of him. The return of Miller will also keep Kamara fresh for the latter part of the season for the Saints.
