Cameron Jordan has been a fan favorite during his New Orleans Saints career. As his tenure has drawn out, though, his on-field numbers and overall performances have slipped at times.
His energy and personality will always be infectious, and he is a leader for the Saints. That being said, a notable adjustment to his role on New Orleans' defense could help him reignite a bit of his success when it comes to getting to the passer.
Potential position change for Cam Jordan
After some rotating inside and outside over the past couple of seasons for Jordan, his new role for defensive coordinator Brandon Staley may be especially unique to his prior NFL experience.
According to Jeff Nowak, Jordan has been working some as a stand up outside linebacker. That would be a new look for his role, as he's normally been a "hand in the dirt" sort of rusher, even sometimes getting looks at defensive tackle.

I think this makes plenty of sense for New Orleans. If they stand up Jordan on some downs, that can allow multiple looks for his teammates trying to rush the passer as well. Also, with a lack of speed remaining in Jordan's game, this could help Jordan get off tackles to make plays in the outside run game or contain mobile quarterbacks.
OTAs are a great time to try new things, and the Saints are doing exactly that under a new coaching staff.
There's now downside if they learn that this role for Jordan won't work effectively. On the flip-side, they may unlock some production that has been missing from the veteran's game over the past couple of seasons in New Orleans.
