Injuries were an absolute whirlwind for the New Orleans Saints this past season. They were without some of their most talented players for notable chunks of time, and it showed up.
The Saints won just five games. Meanwhile, their offense was ravaged with injuries throughout the season. Derek Carr missed seven games. Chris Olave missed nine games. Rashid Shaheed played in just six games.
That trio is not even including Taysom Hill, Kendre Miller, and the multiple key offensive lineman that all missed pivotal amounts of time, respectively. A couple of their top playmakers are set to return next season, though.
Chris Olave teases return
The top wideout on the depth chart for the Saints suffered two concussions this season. That is always a dangerous situation on the gridiron. He returned to practice prior to the Saints' final regular season game, but the team did not want to risk playing him in a meaningless game.
On social media, Olave gave fans a hopeful message for his return to the field next season.
"Be back soon" -- Chris Olave on Instagram
Olave is a very talented young wideout, but he has dealt with multiple injuries so far in his pro career. He's simply been unlucky so far, and that's been unfortunate for both the player and the team.
At the very least, he seems to be in great spirits entering an important offseason for his future.
Latest on Rashid Shaheed
Olave's fellow dynamic wide receiver is ready to get back for New Orleans as well. There's no doubt he will be back in the fold for the offense next season.
Shaheed was arguably the most efficient receiver for Derek Carr when the two played together this year.

Both receivers will be massively impactful next season, regardless of the quarterback. Fans will appreciate seeing their readiness to get back on the field for the black and gold.
