Saints receive bad news to start the week that could keep them from beating Cowboys in Week 2

The undefeated New Orleans Saints and Dallas Cowboys are prepping for a Week 2 class in Texas. Both teams are feeling confident in themselves after big wins in Week 1 over divisional foes.

After Week 1, there were a few injuries of note to keep an eye on for New Orleans. Lucas Patrick, a starting guard, left with a toe issue. Willie Gay Jr. got banged up at his linebacker spot. Marshon Lattimore and Tyrann Mathieu both sustained an injury as well.

On Wednesday, the practice report gave everyone an update on the injury situation for both teams at the midweek.

Saints-Cowboys Wednesday Injury Report

Lattimore, Mathieu did not practice on Wednesday. Those two need to be healthy against a talented group of pass catchers for Dallas. DakPrescott just got rewarded as the highest-paid QB in football.

Jackson and Saunders did not play in Week 1. I would be surprised if they return for Week 2.

Foster Moreau suffered a concussion in the season opener, but he has already returned to a limited designation for practice. That's a good sign for his availability forging forward.

Cowboys looking healthy ahead of Week 2

Tight end Jake Ferguson suffered a scary leg injury during the game this past weekend. His diagnosis was much more positive than expected, though. He may play against New Orleans.

Keep an eye on the statuses of all of the Cowboys players who were limited. Those are some noteworthy pieces, but many of them could be taking it light in practice early in the week.

Their designations on Friday will mean much more for this Sunday's NFC matchup.

All in all, the Saints will hope that Mathieu and Lattimore can safely play through their ailments. Mathieu forced and recovered a fumble in Week 1. Stay updated here for Saints news.
