Saints sign potentially versatile chess piece from UFL

After a tryout earlier this week, the New Orleans Saints decided to sign tight end Seth Green, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. With that, all 90 roster spots are officially filled.

Seth Green in the UFL

In January of 2024, Green was selected by the Arlington Renegades in the XFL dispersal draft after signing a letter of intent with the Houston Roughnecks. He would spend two years with them, gathering 24 receptions for 236 yards and two touchdowns.

In 2025, Green would be named the Renegades nominee for sportsman of the year, which honors the UFL player who best embodies the league’s core values—excellence on the field and an unwavering dedication to making a difference off it.

Last week, the New Orleans Saints invited him for a workout, and today they decided to add him to the roster. With his addition, all 90 roster spots are now filled. Bring on training camp!

Seth Green's subtle connection to Kellen Moore

Recruiters saw Green as a dual-threat quarterback coming out of high school. In his senior year, he completed 10/17 passes for 212 yards and one touchdown and rushed for 98 yards on 10 carries for one touchdown.

However, once he got to his first college in Minnesota, Green was primarily used as an option in the wildcat formation, gathering 114 rushing yards, 15 rushing touchdowns, and six receptions for 83 yards. After the 2020 season, he transferred to the University of Houston, where he made his debut as a tight end. That season, he would gather 13 receptions for 153 yards and three touchdowns. Green didn't have any rushing attempts.

Green went undrafted and be waived by the Houston Texans in August of 2022. Following his time in Houston, he stayed in the lone star state, signing with the Dallas Cowboys practice squad that October. Dallas released him but then sign him to a reserve/future contract after the 2022 season. The Cowboys would waive him the following fall.

Green will reunite with Kellen Moore in New Orleans, who was the offensive coordinator of the Dallas Cowboys in 2022.
