Saints waive former UFL tight end Seth Green before preseason road trip

Seth Green's time with the New Orleans Saints was short-lived. The former UFL standout struggled to make much headway in the team's competition at tight end, and on Tuesday he was waived, per the daily NFL transactions wire. Green won't be joining the Saints when they travel to Irvine for the second leg of training camp in California.

It's a tough break for him. Green, 27, played for head coach Kellen Moore on the Dallas Cowboys and has also spent time with the Houston Texans after turning pro out of Minnesota. He most recently played for the Arlington Renegades. Good luck to him in whatever comes next.

In a corresponding roster move, the Saints claimed tight end Mason Pline off of waivers from the San Francisco 49ers. He'll enter a crowded competition with Treyton Welch, Michael Jacobson, Jack Stoll and rookie draft pick Moliki Matavao behind Juwan Johnson. With Foster Moreau and Taysom Hill still on the mend, the Saints could use some help at the tight end position.
