The San Francisco 49ers hope to have a much-improved team in 2025 after a disappointing 6-11 mark and missing the postseason last year.

The defense will look different as there have been additions and subtractions, mostly part of general manager John Lynch's plan to get better.

But it's three familiar faces that show up on SI's "defensive triplets" rankings, where the 49ers' trio of Nick Bosa, Fred Warner and Deommodore Lenoir appear at No. 4 in the league.

4. San Francisco 49ers

Triplets: Nick Bosa, Fred Warner, Deommodore Lenoir

"The 49ers lost plenty of defensive talent, but the production shouldn’t drastically fall off with Bosa and Warner still on the roster. Lenoir isn’t a household name like his two star teammates, but the 49ers think highly of him after letting many starters go and opting to keep him with a five-year, $92 million contract extension."

Bosa, the former Ohio State Buckeye, is coming off a season where he played 14 games and registered nine sacks, 52 tackles with 22 solo and 15 for loss, and 15 QB hits. He's a five-time Pro Bowler.

Last season, Warner posted 131 tackles with 76 solo and five for loss, one sack and two QB hits, two interceptions, including a pick-6 and four forced fumbles.

Lenoir, in his fourth season, registered a career-high 85 tackles with 53 solo and two for loss, two interceptions and one forced fumble.

If the 49ers are going to bounce back from a disappointing 2024, then it will be partly due to the play of their "defensive triplets."
