Saquon Barkley has an outside chance at doing the unthinkable in Super Bowl LIX

Saquon Barkley is the player to send Philadelphia to Super Bowl LIX | DAZN News CA

It is impossible to get tired of watching him play football. A player like Barkley does not come around too often, and as good as he was at times with the Giants, a completely different version has been unlocked in Philly.

Fans have seen him nearly break records this year while displaying eye-popping moves and providing highlight reel run after highlight reel run en route to a 2,000-yard rushing season. Barkley's 2,005 rushing yards in the regular season were the most he'd ever gone for and were just 100 shy of the all-time mark set by Eric Dickerson.

As the Eagles prepare to take on the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX, Barkley is once again on the verge of breaking an all-time record.

Former Denver Broncos great Terrell Davis owns the record for most combined rushing and receiving yards in a regular and postseason, combined, with 2,762.

Barkley enters the Super Bowl with 2,760.

But, that isn't the end of the story. There is no doubt he'll break Davis' record, but if you're doing the math, he also has the chance to do something unheard of.

Saquon Barkley could become the first player in NFL history to combine for 3,000 rushing and receiving yards in a single season

Just think about that for a minute. In the realm of a quarterback, 3,000 passing yards is basically equal to a running back totaling, let's say, 900 yards on the ground in any given season. It isn't unheard of. It's fairly textbook.

But, we are talking about a running back going over the number 3,000 for the first time ever, between a regular and postseason combined. That just sounds impossible.

Yet, Barkley is 240 yards away from accomplishing that feat.

During the regular season, Barkley had four games over 190 combined yards and two where he went over 200. Funny enough, the two games he finished over 190 saw him total 198 and 199, respectively. So, if we wanted to call it four games over 200, we're awfully close to getting to do that.

Would it be unheard of for Barkley to go for 240 total yards on the league's biggest stage? Pretty much, yes.

Is it impossible?

Not for a player like Barkley. The way he's played this season, nothing is off the table. In a way, it wouldn't be shocking to see him do it.

Among all of the crazy stats the Eagles have given fans this year, Barkley has the opportunity to provide maybe the most unbelievable one yet.
