'Scared' Cowboys Torn To Shreds Over 'Loser' Free Agency Approach

The Dallas Cowboys have been far more proactive in free agency this time than they were a year ago, although the bar wasn't set too high.

But despite the Cowboys bringing in a host of rotational and potential starters, it isn't enough for most. They want to be proven top-end talent, not bargain-hunting free agents.

They want that despite the Cowboys never really being players when free agency first opens, instead waiting to cherry-pick off the cheap deals as they have done again this offseason.

But at least they've made moves, right? Well, that isn't enough for most with no "Tier 2" talents, as our own Mike Fisher calls it, coming in, although Dante Fowler Jr. could be seen as such.

Due to their free agency dealings, CBS Sports, in what is a low-hanging fruit call, named the franchise as a loser of the period.

“The Dallas Cowboys are still scared to make big moves in free agency despite having the cap space to do so," CBS Sports writes. "They either re-signed most of their own guys, or they went bargain bin hunting, mostly on ex-first-round picks who haven't hit in their previous stops. The Cowboys are sitting around with $37.4 million in effective cap space, the eighth-most in the league per OverTheCap.com, without any major free agency signings."

Yes, the cap space situation is a head-scratching one.

Why would the franchise push money into the future with the contract restructures of Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb, only to not use it?

My spidey senses can feel a trade or some level of big move coming, say, for a receiver.

Either way, the Cowboys, despite being rather proactive compared to last season, still can't seem to escape ridicule. Perhaps it is because, despite a host of new players coming in, combining that with the ones they've lost, we can't tell if the roster has gotten any better than a year ago.

Because of that, the Cowboys will be seen by many as losers in free agency.
